Farmers Worldwide Sign Regenerative Agriculture Declaration

Farmers Worldwide Sign Regenerative Agriculture Declaration

By Jamie Martin

Farmers from across the world have come together through the Global Farmer Network (GFN) to launch a new initiative for regenerative agriculture. Over 1,000 farmers in 60 countries have signed a farmer-written declaration that outlines shared values for a more sustainable farming future.

This Regenerative Agriculture: A Farmers’ Declaration supports practices that restore soil health, protect water and biodiversity, and ensure that rural communities remain strong and respected. The declaration also values scientific knowledge, modern tools, and traditional methods working together.

Created by eight farmers representing different parts of the world, the declaration was written during a three-day event. These farmers came from Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, France, India, Kenya, the Netherlands, and the U.S., showing a wide range of farming styles and challenges.

Unlike government or corporate-driven frameworks, this declaration starts with real farmers who know their land. It does not provide strict rules, but instead, it encourages flexibility and inclusion, based on local needs and conditions.

The GFN calls this declaration a “living document”—meant to grow and change with input from farmers around the world. The hope is to create stronger connections among farmers while raising awareness about the power of regenerative practices.

The GFN invites everyone to read, support, and share this global effort. Farmers, supporters, and agricultural groups are encouraged to sign the declaration and become part of a movement shaping the future of farming.
