Haley Linder Joins Ohio State as Ruminant Nutrition Professor

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio State University Department of Animal Sciences has welcomed Dr. Haley Linder as an Assistant Professor of Ruminant Nutrition. Her appointment spans teaching, research, and extension, allowing her to connect classroom learning with industry needs.

Originally from Hampshire, Illinois, Linder earned her Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois. Her doctoral research examined the metabolic effects of acidosis in both the rumen and hindgut of beef cattle.

She also holds a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.

Linder’s research centers on feedlot cattle nutrition, with a focus on integrating nutritional strategies and new technologies to boost feed efficiency while supporting animal health.

Her work aims to develop practical, research-based solutions that can be applied directly on farms and in feedlots.

Equally passionate about extension, Linder plans to collaborate with producers, industry professionals, and fellow researchers to share findings and advance cattle management practices. She is eager to involve students in her research while providing them with hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for careers in animal science.

By combining innovative research, effective teaching, and strong outreach, Linder’s appointment strengthens Ohio State’s commitment to improving ruminant nutrition and supporting the beef industry across the region.
