Celebrate Ohio Wine Month with Summer Winery Adventures

By Andi Anderson

June is Ohio Wine Month, and wine lovers are invited to celebrate by visiting over 425 wineries across the state. Hosted by the Ohio Wine Producers Association, the event showcases the state’s best vintages and creates the perfect setting for summer relaxation and fun.

From lakeside views to starry evenings, Ohio wineries offer unique “staycation” experiences. Visitors can enjoy picnics by the water, live jazz performances among the vines, and delicious food pairings. Many wineries even feature grill-it-yourself steak dinners or full-service wine-restaurant menus.

During your visit, be sure to ask for samples of wines that received top honors at the 2025 Ohio Wine Competition. Dozens of double gold, gold, silver, and bronze medals were awarded to local wines, reflecting the quality and passion of Ohio’s winemakers.

Ohio wines are also available at grocery stores and farmers' markets, making it easy to bring a bottle home to enjoy with a summer BBQ. Support local by ordering Ohio wine at your favorite restaurant—or suggest they add Ohio vintages to their list. The Ohio Wine Producers are ready to help with tastings and recommendations.

One of the highlights of Ohio Wine Month is the third annual Island Wine Fest, happening June 21 at Put-in-Bay. Enjoy great wine and stunning views of Lake Erie during this festive summer event.

Looking ahead, mark your calendar for August 1–2 to attend the 30th Anniversary of Vintage Ohio in Lake County at Lake Metroparks Farmpark. This event is one of the state’s most celebrated wine and food experiences.
