Nominate diverse leaders for American egg board 2025-2026

Nominate diverse leaders for American egg board 2025-2026

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Poultry Association (OPA) is currently accepting nominations for individuals to serve on the 2025-2026 American Egg Board (AEB), a crucial platform for U.S. egg farmers to connect with consumers and promote the value of eggs. The AEB aims to assemble an ethnically diverse group of candidates for these roles.

Jim Chakeres, Executive Vice President of the OPA, highlighted the unique opportunity: “Serving on the American Egg Board is a unique opportunity to assist in furthering AEB’s mission to increase demand for eggs nationwide,” expressing the privilege of collaborating with egg farming partners to supply high-quality eggs throughout the country.

To qualify for a nomination, candidates must be egg producers or their representatives, owning more than 75,000 laying hens. Those with fewer hens may qualify if they have not sought exemption and contribute to AEB assessments.

The Board, appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, consists of 18 members and 18 alternates who represent egg farmers from various U.S. regions.

These roles are designed to reflect the diversity of the egg industry in terms of marketing strategies, production methods, and more, including representation from historically underserved communities.

All nominations need to be submitted by April 30, 2024, via email to the OPA at info@ohiopoultry.org.

This call is part of Ohio's broader commitment as a leading egg-producing state, emphasizing egg safety and quality to support the health and well-being of Ohioans and Americans at large.
