Ohio Produce Growers & Marketers Association (OPGMA) is a collaboration of three organizations that merged in 2007 to promote and support Ohio's produce growers and marketers. The group's primary aim is to offer educational and promotional opportunities to Ohio's fresh produce industry.
Ohio's agriculture industry is the state's leading industry and generates over $105 billion in annual revenue. OPGMA works to promote the consumption of locally-grown fruits and vegetables, including apples, wild mushrooms, cherries, and raspberries, to name a few.
The group also offers summer tours and other initiatives that build connections between agricultural professionals. In addition, the Ohio Department of Agriculture's Ohio Proud program aims to encourage people to buy Ohio-grown produce and better educate Ohioans about healthy food options.
The program provides a schedule of events, promotes farm markets, and educates people on which fruits and vegetables are available throughout the year. OPGMA and Ohio Proud make it easy for consumers to support local growers by identifying Ohio-grown produce with its own logo.
Ohio's farmers are dedicated to producing high-quality fruits and vegetables that nourish their people while promoting a robust agricultural industry.
