The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) concluded its 2024–25 Beef Exhibitor Show Total (BEST) season with a celebration on May 3 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus. More than 700 youth, families, and supporters gathered for the annual awards banquet, which honored the outstanding achievements of over 350 youth participants.
The BEST program spans nine weekends of sanctioned cattle shows across Ohio. This season, more than 700 youth exhibited 1,000 head of market animals and heifers, showcasing their cattle and dedication to the agriculture industry.
Participants were recognized not only for their show ring success but also for their knowledge of the cattle industry, photography talents, and community service efforts. A key highlight of the banquet was the announcement of junior representatives for the upcoming season.
New representatives include Kendall Bishop, Khloe Parcels, Cora Monnig, and Derrin Myers. Several others completed their terms, including Noah Lang, Tatumn Poff, and Cheyenne Myers.
The event also featured a charitable contribution to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). Throughout the year, BEST participants collected pop tabs and raised funds during the Celebrity Showdown. Their efforts resulted in an $8,015 donation. The “T Swift Team” raised the highest amount, followed by the “Breakfast Team.”
The success of the BEST program is made possible by the guidance of the BEST Committee, which includes leaders and youth from various Ohio counties. Sponsors for this season included Ag-Pro Companies, Bob Evans Farms, Dickson Cattle Co., and Weaver Livestock, among others.
This program continues to foster leadership, learning, and community service among young cattle enthusiasts. With strong support from families and sponsors, BEST remains a leading youth program in Ohio agriculture.
