Organic grain farming continues to grow in popularity as more producers explore sustainable practices and new market opportunities. To support this progress, registration is now open for the fourth annual Ohio State Organic Grains Conference, which will take place on January 7 and 8, 2026.
The event will be held at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Sandusky, Ohio, and is designed to assist a wide range of participants, including experienced organic farmers, those transitioning to organic production, and consultants or educators who work with organic operations.
The conference will feature several well-known speakers from across the agricultural industry. Scheduled presenters include Willie Hughes from a family farming operation in Wisconsin, Dr. Matt Ryan from Cornell University, and Dr. Aaron Wilson, who specializes in agricultural weather and climate at Ohio State.
Another featured speaker will be Nate Powell Palm from the Organic Agronomy Training Service, also known as OATS. In addition to these speakers, the two day event will include panels and discussions that address agronomic practices, management challenges, crop production techniques, and current trends in organic grain farming.
This conference is organized by the Ohio State University Extension Farm Office and the Organic Food and Farming Education and Research program.
Planning support also comes from land grant university staff, researchers, and organic farmers from Ohio and nearby states. Their involvement helps ensure that the topics presented reflect current needs and practical concerns in the organic grain sector.
Registration options are available at different price levels. Individuals who register before December 5 will pay a reduced rate of $140 per person. From December 6 through December 26, the registration cost will increase to $175.
Attendees may also register at the door for an additional fee if space remains available. Continuing education credits will be offered for Certified Crop Advisors, giving professionals an opportunity to earn credentials while learning about organic production.
More information, including registration details and conference updates, can be found online. The event aims to support organic grain growers by providing knowledge, resources, and connections to strengthen operations in the upcoming season.
