Ohio State University Extension is hosting a Cow/Calf Workshop at Paint Valley Farms in Millersburg, Ohio, on Friday, February 7. The workshop will run from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM and costs $15 per person. Participants must RSVP through the Holmes County Extension Office at 330-674-3015.
Designed for cattle farmers and herd managers, the workshop will address key aspects of reproduction and genetics to optimize herd management and profitability. Long-term genetic investments are vital for herd longevity, and this workshop will provide practical strategies to enhance herd operations.
The workshop will cover a range of topics, including:
- Breeding season management
- Post-drought pasture recovery
- Using Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) for herd improvement
- Synchronization strategies for reproduction
- Bull evaluation for optimal herd performance
A tour of the facilities at Paint Valley Farms will also be part of the program, giving attendees hands-on insights into effective cattle farming practices.
The event is limited to the first 50 attendees who RSVP. Registration includes lunch and printed materials to support learning and application on the farm.
