Derek Snider, a farmer from Hardin County, has been awarded the Ohio Farm Bureau’s 2025 Excellence in Agriculture honor. This prestigious award recognizes young agricultural professionals who are making significant contributions to both agriculture and the Farm Bureau. The announcement took place during the Young Agricultural Professionals Winter Leadership Experience on February 8.
A fifth-generation farmer, Snider owns and operates DuLynn Farms, LLC with his parents in Hardin County. Their farm focuses on growing corn, soybeans, wheat, and hay using no-till farming techniques. In addition, they maintain a 40-head cow-calf beef herd, producing both heifers for replacements and steers for sale as freezer beef or at local stockyards.
Snider has been actively involved with the Hardin County Farm Bureau for over 10 years and currently serves as its president. He has also contributed to the Ohio Farm Bureau Young Ag Professionals State Committee, even serving as chair in 2024. Snider graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in agricultural economics and minors in agricultural communication and entrepreneurship. He now works as a senior account officer at AgCredit in Kenton, Ohio, where he helps fellow farmers manage their financial needs.
As the Excellence in Agriculture winner, Snider receives a $3,000 cash prize, along with trips to the 2025 Ohio Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and the 2026 American Farm Bureau Annual Convention in Anaheim, California. Nationwide and Farm Credit Mid-America sponsor his prize.
Other finalists for the award include Denver Davis and Megan Dresbach, who each received a $250 cash prize and other recognitions. The Ohio Farm Bureau’s Young Agricultural Professionals program offers leadership and development opportunities for members aged 18-35.
