Ohio State University Extension is set to host the Mid-Ohio Small Farm Conference on April 6, 2024, in Senecaville, Ohio. The theme for this year's conference is "Sowing Seeds for Success," catering to beginning and small farm owners, as well as those looking to diversify their operations.
The conference will offer five distinct tracks covering horticulture and produce production, business management, livestock, natural resources, and, new this year, the farm kitchen. With a focus on practical insights, attendees can expect valuable information for various aspects of small-scale farming.
Session highlights encompass a range of topics, including raising meat rabbits, goat milk soap production, timber harvesting and marketing, growing pawpaws, food preservation basics, herb vinegars, organic pest management, hydroponic produce cultivation, and guidance on starting and setting up a farm-related business. The inclusion of a farm kitchen track adds a culinary perspective to the event.
The conference is open to anyone interested in developing, growing, or diversifying their small farm, welcoming market gardeners, farmers market vendors, and individuals intrigued by the small farm living experience.
Taking place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mid-East Career Technical Center Buffalo Campus, 57090 Vocational Road, Senecaville, Ohio 43780, the event promises a conducive environment for learning and networking.
Attendees will have the chance to explore a trade show featuring the latest ideas and services for farming operations. Engaging with vendors and connecting with fellow participants enhances the overall experience.
