Ohio Agricultural Teachers Shine as Finalists for Golden Owl Award

The exceptional efforts of Ohio's agricultural educators take center stage as the finalists for the Golden Owl Award were recently unveiled. Nominations for the state's best agricultural teachers poured in from local students, parents, fellow teachers, and community members between September 1 and December 31, 2023.

The Ten Finalists:

  • Jessie Schulze, Delta FFA
  • Tod Fox, Ashland FFA
  • Tom Mazzaro, Pymatuning Valley FFA
  • Julie Stawowy, Old Fort FFA
  • Dena Wuebker, Versailles FFA
  • Tom Jolliff, North Union FFA
  • Caleb Hickman, Utica FFA
  • Tyler Lones, Sheridan FFA
  • Chyann Kendel, Talawanda-Butler Tech FFA
  • Rob Brokaw, New Lexington FFA

Each finalist received a plaque, presented in front of their peers and students, along with a $1,500 donation to their school's agricultural program, supporting ongoing educational initiatives. These outstanding educators are now in the running for the prestigious title of Ohio's Ag Educator of the Year. The winner will be bestowed with an additional $5,000 contribution to their school's agriculture program and the coveted Golden Owl Award trophy.

The Golden Owl Award, established by Nationwide, aims to honor and support the contributions of teachers in various states, including California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota.

The Golden Owl Award, Nationwide is furthering its commitment to agricultural education by donating $5,000 to the Ohio FFA. This contribution aims to enhance the personal and professional growth of students, teachers, and advisors in the Ohio FFA community.
