Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation Opens 2026 Scholarship Applications

Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation Opens 2026 Scholarship Applications

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2026 scholarship program, offering financial support to Ohio students pursuing degrees connected to agriculture.

These opportunities are open to students from rural, suburban, and urban communities who plan to build careers within the agricultural industry.

Through 17 scholarship funds, the foundation will award more than 50 scholarships in 2026, including two new opportunities. Most scholarships share a common application deadline of March 31, unless otherwise noted.

One of the newest and most significant awards is the Ohio Farm Bureau Ambassadors Scholarship. This premier scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence, community service, and a commitment to advancing Ohio agriculture.

It provides one $10,000 renewable award, with the possibility of renewal for up to three additional years, for a total of $40,000. The deadline for this scholarship is February 28.

Several scholarships focus on removing financial barriers for students entering agriculture and related fields. These include the John Wallace and James Wallace Douglas Scholarship, the Lou Ann Putnam Harrold Memorial Scholarship, and the Bruce and Carlene Patterson Agricultural Scholarship.

Each is designed to support long-term education and workforce development in agriculture.

Other awards recognize specific skills, regions, or career paths. The David E. Mizer Memorial Scholarship supports students from select eastern Ohio counties pursuing agriculture, dairy science, or food science degrees.

The Mularcik Welding Scholarship highlights the importance of skilled trades, while the Ohio Farm Bureau Founders Scholarship focuses on strengthening connections between producers and consumers.

Leadership and service are also central themes. Scholarships honoring individuals such as Dr. C. William Swank, Cindy Hollingshead, Darwin Bryan, Kenny Walter, and Yvonne Lesicko recognize dedication to agriculture, policy, education, and community leadership.

The John C. “Jack” Fisher Scholarship reflects the belief that “People have within their own hands the tools to fashion their own destiny.”

Additional opportunities are available through county Farm Bureaus. Students can view all scholarship options online.

For more information, applicants may contact Kelly Warner. The foundation continues its mission to inspire and educate the next generation, building a strong and prepared agricultural workforce for Ohio’s future.
