Ohio Farm Bureau Opens Growing Tomorrow Grants for Young Entrepreneurs

Ohio Farm Bureau Opens Growing Tomorrow Grants for Young Entrepreneurs

By Andi Anderson

Starting May 1, applications will be accepted for the Ohio Farm Bureau’s Growing Tomorrow Grant, a program aimed at encouraging and nurturing young agricultural entrepreneurs. With the support of partners like Nationwide and Farm Credit Mid-America, the program expects to award up to $100,000 in grants this year.

Founded by Mike and Patti Boyert, members of the Ohio Farm Bureau, the grant program provides opportunities for young farmers that the Boyerts lacked early in their careers.

The goal is to empower young professionals to address today’s agricultural challenges, from increasing public education about farming to strengthening rural economies.

The Growing Tomorrow Grant will support new or early-stage agricultural businesses focused on:

  • Creating sustainable employment in Ohio’s farming communities.
  • Educational programs that promote a better public understanding of agriculture.
  • Innovative agricultural techniques that focus on environmental stewardship.
  • Projects that sustainably grow and distribute food to local Ohio communities.

Applicants are encouraged to present a strong business plan with a sustainable solution addressing one or more of these focus areas. Those seeking startup funding or looking to enhance an existing agricultural business are welcome to apply.

To learn more, interested applicants can attend a virtual information session on May 7 at 7 p.m. featuring the Boyerts and Ohio Farm Bureau staff, where they can also ask questions about the application process.

Applications are due by July 31.
