By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation has appointed 20 leaders to the 2024 Policy Development Committee.

This group is responsible for gathering and organizing public policy recommendations from county Farm Bureaus across the state. These recommendations will be presented for approval at the Ohio Farm Bureau’s state annual meeting in December.

During its first session, the committee engaged with government leaders, subject matter experts, and Farm Bureau staff on a range of critical topics, including carbon sequestration, the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) program, sustainable aviation fuel, land use, annexation, rural child care, aquifer and water management, livestock traceability, and veterinary telehealth.

The committee consists of 10 Ohio Farm Bureau board trustees and 10 representatives from county Farm Bureaus. It is chaired by Ohio Farm Bureau First Vice President Cy Prettyman of New Bloomington.

Other prominent members include OFBF President Bill Patterson of Chesterland and Treasurer Adele Flynn of Wellington. State trustees serving on the committee include Matt Aultman of Greenville, Danielle Burch of Salem, Mackenzie Deetz of Sugarcreek, Katherine Harrison of Groveport, Craig Pohlman of Venedocia, Nicol Reiterman of Washington Court House, and Matt Vodraska of Doylestown.

County Farm Bureau representatives include Heather Bryan of Hancock County, Brandie Finney of Crawford County, Mary Fleming of Delaware County, Christine Haines of Washington County, Stacy Irwin of Columbiana County, Jim Percival of Greene County, Larry Theurer of Cuyahoga County, Hannah Thompson of Athens-Meigs County, Cindy Petitti-Walton of Stark County, and Vicki Vance Weiser of Knox County.

The Ohio Farm Bureau’s mission is to support Ohio farmers, advance agricultural initiatives, and strengthen rural communities through collaborative efforts in public policy and advocacy.

The Policy Development Committee plays a critical role in shaping the future of Ohio’s agriculture industry.
