The Ohio State University Extension, Belmont and Monroe counties will host a vegetable field day on July 28 at the property of John Weaver at 57399 Shry Road in Barnesville.
The field day will immediately follow the Captina Produce Auction sale, also hosted by OSU Extension, which begins at 10 a.m. at 39050 West Captina Highway in Barnesville. Those who wish to participate will drive less than 1 mile to Weaver’s farm at the conclusion of the sale.
The event will be free and open to the public.
Ohio State College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Science specialists and educators will discuss how to care for many fruit and vegetable plants including raspberries, strawberries, pumpkins, cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes.

Captina Produce Auctions take place every Tuesday and Friday beginning in May or June and continuing until the end of October. Captina Produce Auction was started in 2005 as a wholesale marketplace for local Amish farmers to bring their produce in bulk and offer it to the public at a competitive price. The auction sells produce that is available at specific times of the growing season.
