The Ohio State University is investing in the future of animal agriculture with a new state-of-the-art Multispecies Animal Learning Center (MALC). This $52 million facility will provide students with hands-on experience working with various animals, preparing them for careers in the field.
The MALC will house swine, cattle, poultry, sheep, and goats, offering students a unique learning environment. Additionally, a modern dairy featuring robotic milking technology is planned, showcasing cutting-edge practices in the industry.
Beyond education, the MALC aims to boost workforce development by fostering diverse career pathways in animal sciences, engineering, food science, and more. Interactive exhibits and public tours will also raise awareness about modern livestock production.
The project is expected to be completed in fall 2025, with ongoing fundraising efforts. This initiative highlights Ohio State's commitment to advancing animal agriculture and preparing the next generation of farmers and industry leaders.
