The Ohio-based Saddle and Sirloin Club commenced the new year with a remarkable feat, organizing their inaugural Saddle and Sirloin Spectacular cattle show from December 29-31. While the organization's students have ample experience in managing livestock shows and creating youth opportunities, this marked their debut in the cattle show arena.
The show achieved outstanding success, welcoming nearly 400 head of cattle, with 193 breeding heifers and 194 market animals showcased across two rings. The event's management, led by Department of Animal Sciences students Erin Pope, Savannah Kinley, and Collin Fedderke, collaborated with fellow club members tirelessly over the holiday weekend to ensure a fulfilling experience for both families and exhibitors.
While the club boasts diverse membership across various majors, a substantial portion comprises Animal Sciences students and individuals rooted in agriculture backgrounds. Hosting such events for the youth holds immense significance for many.
Kamryn Kreis, president of Saddle and Sirloin at the Ohio State University, expressed the sentiment, "The Saddle and Sirloin Spectacular remains one of our most anticipated events, enabling us to give back to the community and industry from which many of our members hail. It involves months of dedicated planning and hard work, yet witnessing exhibitors and families devote their holiday weekend with us in Circleville, pursuing their passion, is truly gratifying."
Let's extend our congratulations to these students for orchestrating a triumphant Saddle and Sirloin Spectacular.
