One of Ohio’s most recognized wine events is preparing for its final celebration after more than three decades of success. Vintage Ohio, a festival that has played a major role in promoting the state’s wine industry, will hold its farewell event on August 7 and 8 at Lake Farmpark in Kirtland, Ohio.
Since its launch 32 years ago, Vintage Ohio has served as a platform for showcasing Ohio wineries and introducing consumers to locally produced wines. The event became one of the first festivals in the United States to bring together wineries from across an entire state in a single celebration. Over the years, it has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors and helped build awareness of Ohio’s growing wine industry.
The festival has provided opportunities for guests to sample award-winning wines, meet winemakers, enjoy live entertainment, and experience the rich culture surrounding local vineyards. It has also played a significant role in encouraging tourism and supporting winery businesses throughout the state.
Donniella Winchell, Executive Director of the Ohio Wine Producers Association, reflected on the festival’s impact, stating, "Every great event hopes to make a lasting difference," said Donniella Winchell, Executive Director of the Ohio Wine Producers Association. "Vintage Ohio accomplished exactly that. We are incredibly proud of what this festival has meant to our wineries, our visitors, and the Ohio wine industry as a whole."
Festival organizers explained that the decision to conclude the event came after recognizing that its original mission had been successfully achieved. Over the years, Ohio’s wine industry has experienced significant growth. Many wineries now host their own successful events, while wine trails and vineyard experiences attract visitors throughout the year.
Organizers believe the festival’s greatest achievement is the strong community it helped create. They emphasized this sentiment by stating, "We believe the greatest legacy of Vintage Ohio is not simply the festival itself, but the stronger, more vibrant Ohio wine community it helped create. We leave with deep gratitude and tremendous optimism for what comes next."
The organization also expressed appreciation to the wineries, volunteers, sponsors, musicians, vendors, and local communities that contributed to the festival’s success. Most importantly, it thanked the loyal attendees whose support helped make Vintage Ohio one of Ohio’s signature wine events.
Although the festival will come to an end, support for the Ohio wine industry will continue. Organizers remain committed to exploring new opportunities, partnerships, and initiatives that promote local wineries and introduce future generations to Ohio-produced wines.
The final Vintage Ohio celebration will serve as both a farewell and a tribute to an event that helped shape and strengthen the state’s wine community for more than three decades. Through its lasting influence, the spirit of Vintage Ohio will continue to inspire the growth and success of Ohio wines for years to come.
