Nate Like elected to Ohio Farm Bureau Board

By Andi Anderson

Nate Like of Hamler has been elected to the board of trustees of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, where he will represent members in Defiance, Fulton, Henry, and Williams counties. In this role, Like will contribute to governing the state’s largest farm and food organization.

Together with his wife, Ashley, Like owns and operates Buckeye Meats and Processing, a federally inspected processing plant in Hamler. His farming activities include maintaining a small herd of brood cows and growing corn and soybeans alongside his father-in-law, Greg Niese. Additionally, Like raises calves for local 4-H youth and serves as a livestock show judge nationwide.

Like, who graduated from Wilmington College with a degree in agricultural business, has been an active member of the Henry County Farm Bureau for 15 years, serving as its president for the past decade. Under his leadership, the Bureau launched initiatives such as the Shine in the Show Ring event, an award-winning alternative livestock show for individuals with developmental disabilities. This program pairs participants with Junior Fair livestock exhibitors as mentors.

In addition to his Farm Bureau activities, Like is a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 262. His election to the board of trustees took place during a Special Meeting of the Delegate Body on May 14 in Archbold.

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation aims to advance agriculture and strengthen communities through collaboration. More information is available at ohiofarmbureau.org.
