Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation launches growing tomorrow grant

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the Growing Tomorrow Grant, a new initiative aimed at empowering young agricultural professionals and entrepreneurs. Designed to inspire innovation and address challenges within the industry, this grant program seeks to foster a deeper understanding of agriculture's role in our communities and nation.

The brainchild of Mike and Patti Boyert, Ohio Farm Bureau northeast regional trustee and member of the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation Board of Directors, the Growing Tomorrow Grant aims to provide support to individuals facing challenges like those encountered by the Boyerts at the start of their farming careers. Drawing from their own experiences, the Boyerts are committed to helping the next generation of farmers overcome obstacles and succeed in agriculture.

"We want to pay it forward, get young people started in agriculture that may not be able to, with just a little bit of a start," said Patti Boyert. "If they have the commitment, the dedication and are willing to work for it, I’d like to see more young people stay in agriculture and be able to produce a living from agriculture."

The Growing Tomorrow Grant will offer financial assistance to new or early-stage agricultural businesses, with a focus on initiatives that promote long-term sustainability, educational opportunities, environmental stewardship, and community support. Young professionals and entrepreneurs with innovative business plans and a commitment to addressing industry challenges are encouraged to apply.

Mike Boyert emphasized the grant's potential to support Ohio's rural communities, stating, "The grant really helps sustain Ohio rural communities. It gives you an opportunity to promote different educational opportunities, a more public understanding of what agriculture is all about and creates an opportunity for employment in Ohio farm communities."

Applicants can learn more and submit their proposals by visiting ofb.ag/GrowingTomorrowGrant. The application deadline is July 31 at 5 p.m. For inquiries about the Growing Tomorrow Grant, please contact the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation at foundation@ofbf.org.

The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation is dedicated to inspiring and educating the next generation of farmers, ensuring the progress and prosperity of Ohio agriculture. Through initiatives like the Growing Tomorrow Grant, the foundation strives to build a vibrant and sustainable future for farming communities across the state.
