Brian Baldridge, the 40th Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, is marking a significant milestone – one year in service. Appointed by Governor Mike DeWine on January 31st, 2023, Director Baldridge has navigated a year filled with dedication and support for Ohio's farming community.
In his first week as director, Baldridge demonstrated his commitment by swiftly responding to the East Palestine train derailment in Columbiana County, providing crucial support to local farmers. This immediate and hands-on approach set the tone for his tenure, showcasing his dedication to the well-being of Ohio's agricultural sector.
Throughout the year, Director Baldridge embarked on numerous road trips, traversing every corner of the state. His mission was clear – to listen to the farmers who drive Ohio's agriculture, the state's number one industry. Engaging with the community, he attended over 20 county and independent fairs, toured various farming operations, and connected with the hardworking individuals who contribute to the success of Ohio's agriculture.
Director Baldridge, a farmer from Adams County himself, brings a wealth of personal experience to his role. His passion for public service and agriculture is evident in his tireless efforts to understand and address the needs of Ohio's farmers. To gain deeper insights into his journey, one can take a trip to his seventh-generation farm, as highlighted in a video by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
