Ohio Farm Bureau welcomes new young ag professionals

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation has announced the latest additions to its Young Agricultural Professionals State Committee. The new members include Katherine and Bill Brown of Stark County, Abby and Blake Campbell of Washington County, Josh Ison of Clermont County, and Hannah Thompson of Meigs County.

These leaders were selected for their involvement in Farm Bureau activities, leadership potential, and commitment to community service.

The committee consists of eight individuals or couples who develop activities and programs aimed at engaging young farmers and agricultural professionals. Their responsibilities include planning the annual Winter Leadership Experience and hosting various events within and outside Ohio.

The Browns farm in Louisville alongside Katherine’s family, managing a dairy operation and raising crops like corn and soybeans. Katherine also works as a partnership manager for AgVend, while Bill is a past county Farm Bureau president.

The Campbells, based in Waterford, run a fourth-generation sheep and swine farm and have expanded into direct marketing of meat and wool products. They are both agricultural educators and FFA advisors, and Abby recently won the 2024 Ohio Farm Bureau Discussion Meet.

Josh Ison, of Clermont County, operates a diverse farm raising cattle, pigs, poultry, and sheep while marketing products under the Flourish & Roam brand. He also serves as the public policy chair for the Clermont County Farm Bureau.

Hannah Thompson, from Meigs County, is an agriscience teacher and a Growing Home Fellowship program fellow. She plays an active role in her local 4-H program and serves as vice president of the Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau Board.

These young leaders will help host the 2025 Young Ag Professionals Winter Leadership Experience on Feb. 7-8 at Kalahari Resorts in Sandusky, Ohio. This event will offer networking opportunities and educational sessions covering small business planning, consumer communication, social media strategies, and more. Their leadership promises to drive innovation and foster a stronger agricultural community across Ohio.
