Ohio farm resolution services launched

By Andi Anderson

The Ohio Farm Resolution Services (OFRS) program has been launched to help farmers resolve conflicts. The program provides educational resources, consultation services, and formal mediation. OFRS can assist with a wide variety of issues, including family communication, farm transition planning, land use, and farm leases.

OFRS was developed in response to the growing need for conflict resolution services in the Ohio agriculture community. With over 76,000 farms and 13 million acres of farmland, it is common for disputes to arise. These disputes can lead to litigation and appeals, which can be costly and time-consuming.

OFRS is designed to help farmers resolve conflicts in a more efficient and effective manner. The program's educational resources can help farmers learn about their legal rights and options. The consultation services can help farmers develop solutions to their problems. And the formal mediation services can help farmers negotiate mutually agreeable resolutions.

OFRS can assist with a wide range of issues, from family communication and farm transition planning to business practices, land use, and zoning matters. While educational and consultation services are already available, mediation services will begin in January 2024.

For more information or referrals to OFRS, please contact Robert Moore at moore.301@osu.edu or 614-247-8260. Additional details can be found at farmoffice.osu.edu/ofrs. Ohio Farm Resolution Services is committed to aiding Ohio's farming community in resolving disputes and ensuring the industry's well-being.
