Scholarships Available for Ohio Students Interested in Ag Education

The Agriculture Education Foundation is giving students an exciting chance to pursue their passion for agri-science education. Applications are now open for six $1,000 scholarships for college students enrolling in Ohio's agriculture educator programs for the fall semester of 2023.

New for this year, the Agriculture Education Foundation is introducing a special opportunity. They will provide $4,000 in assistance for students attending the Bahamas Agriculture Marine Science Institute (BAMSI). BAMSI is an 800-acre working farm in the Bahamas, offering hands-on learning experiences to students. The farm's mission is to reduce the Bahamas' dependence on food imports.

This opportunity is available to any student who meets the minimum requirements and is either already enrolled or planning to enroll in an agriculture teaching major or 4-H extension major at one of Ohio's three Universities that offer these programs. Additionally, students at other two-year or four-year schools in Ohio offering pathways to becoming an agriculture teacher or extension educator are also eligible.

To apply, students need to submit their application materials by August 15, 2023, at 5pm. Official application documents and requirements can be found on the foundation's website at www.agised.org.

While one scholarship is specifically designated for students at Central State University, all other scholarships are open to students at any institution in Ohio. This initiative by the Agriculture Education Foundation aims to support and encourage the next generation of agri-science educators in the state.
