Tim Haab, an environmental economist, has been appointed as the new director of the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) at The Ohio State University. Haab's expertise lies in valuing environmental and natural resources to promote sustainability.
Haab, who previously served as interim director of SENR and held the Dean's Chair for Transformative Initiatives, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to his tenure at SENR, he spent 13 years as professor and chair of the CFAES Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics.
With a background in economics and a PhD in environmental and resource economics, Haab is well-equipped to lead SENR in its mission to advance science-based solutions and research-driven policies for a sustainable future.
In his upcoming term, Haab aims to develop strategic areas of excellence for SENR, establish a clear identity for the school, and foster collaboration across the college.
He emphasizes the importance of impactful teaching, pioneering research, and robust community engagement to address the complex challenges facing our environment.
Cathann A. Kress, Ohio State's vice president for agricultural administration and dean of CFAES, expressed gratitude to Haab for his dedication to the college and congratulated him on his new appointment.
