The December Farm Talk Breakfast is an opportunity for community members to gather, enjoy a warm meal and learn helpful strategies for managing winter stress. Scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM, the event will be held at the OSU Extension Operations Building located at 16714 Wolf Run Road in Caldwell, Ohio.
This monthly program focuses on timely topics that support the wellbeing of farmers and residents in the local area.
The theme for this month is Mastering Mindfulness, an important skill during the winter season when shorter days, colder temperatures and busy schedules can create challenges for mental clarity and emotional balance.
Special guest Mattea Schockling, an Ag Navigator, will lead discussions on practical ways to calm the mind, reduce stress and stay focused during demanding periods. Her guidance will help participants learn simple techniques that can be used daily at home or on the farm.
Mindfulness is especially valuable for farmers who face long hours, unpredictable conditions and physical demands throughout the year. By learning to slow down and refocus, individuals can improve their overall wellbeing and make better decisions during stressful times.
The workshop will introduce methods such as breathing exercises, mental check ins and ways to build more awareness during everyday tasks.
A fresh cooked breakfast will be provided at no cost, making the event both enjoyable and informative. Participants are encouraged to register early, as space is limited and RSVPs must be submitted by December 16.
