The Ohio Farm Bureau's Young Agricultural Professionals (YAP) State Committee for 2024 is set to be led by a dynamic group of individuals dedicated to advancing agriculture and nurturing leadership within the farming community.
Leading the committee as Chaircouple are Luke and Kayla Durbin, hailing from Coshocton County. Alongside them, Tim and Sarah Terrill of Montgomery County will serve as co-chairs, bringing their passion for agriculture and community engagement to the forefront. Carly Fitz of Perry County will take on the role of secretary, contributing her expertise and enthusiasm to the committee's endeavors.
Luke and Kayla Durbin, both deeply rooted in agriculture, bring a wealth of experience to their leadership roles. Farming full-time on grain farms in Tuscarawas and Coshocton counties, they also manage Durbin Land and Cattle, where they raise Simmental cow/calf pairs. Their active participation in various Farm Bureau events and dedication to mentoring young showmen highlight their commitment to the agricultural community.
Tim and Sarah Terrill, owners of a farm in Montgomery County specializing in Boer goat breeding, share a similar passion for agriculture and youth development. Their involvement in Farm Bureau activities, alongside their roles as 4-H advisors, underscores their dedication to fostering the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Carly Fitz, a program assistant at The Ohio State University, brings her diverse background and expertise to the committee. Actively engaged in her family's farm in Perry County, Carly's participation in local, state, and national Farm Bureau events reflects her commitment to advancing rural economic development and farmland preservation.
The Ohio Farm Bureau's Young Agricultural Professionals program is dedicated to providing leadership development and professional growth opportunities for members aged 18-35. Through initiatives such as the Winter Leadership Experience and the Washington, D.C. Leadership Experience, the program aims to empower young farmers and agriculturists to thrive in their careers and communities.
As the newly appointed leadership takes the reins, Ohio Farm Bureau continues its mission of working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen communities. With a focus on collaboration and innovation, the YAP State Committee is poised to make a significant impact in the agricultural landscape of Ohio.
