The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is sponsoring three collection events for farmers who need to dispose of unwanted pesticides.
These events will take place in Auglaize, Holmes, and Clinton counties on the following dates and locations:
- Aug. 14, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Auglaize County Fairgrounds, 1001 Fairview Drive, Wapakoneta.
- Aug. 15, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Farmers Produce Auction (Mount Hope Produce Auction), 7701 State Route 241, Millersburg.
- Aug. 20, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Former Nutrien site, 6704 US Route 22, Wilmington.
These pesticide collection and disposal services are free of charge, exclusively for farm chemicals. It is important to note that paint, antifreeze, solvents, and household or non-farm pesticides will not be accepted.
These collections are organized by the ODA in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Farmers who wish to participate can pre-register or get more information by contacting the Ohio Department of Agriculture at 614-728-6987.
In addition to the pesticide disposal events, the Ohio Plant Diagnostic Clinic Workshop is set to return in Wooster. This workshop offers an opportunity for those interested in plant diagnostics to deepen their understanding.
The clinic will feature a range of sessions and speakers, providing valuable insights into plant health and diagnostic techniques.
The pesticide disposal events and plant diagnostic clinic reflect the ongoing efforts by the Ohio Department of Agriculture to support farmers in managing their farm chemicals safely and improving plant health.
These initiatives are crucial for promoting sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring environmental safety.
Farmers and agricultural professionals are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to dispose of unwanted pesticides responsibly and to enhance their knowledge of plant diagnostics.
By participating in these events, they contribute to a healthier and more sustainable farming environment.
