The Ohio Soybean Council Foundation (OSCF) has awarded a total of $46,500 in scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year, continuing its commitment to supporting the future leaders of the soybean industry.
Celebrating its 17th year, the OSCF Scholarship Program aims to encourage undergraduate students to pursue degrees in various academic fields related to agriculture, business, communication, economics, education, science, and technology. Additionally, the program supports graduate-level research in advancing the soybean industry. Since its inception in 2008, the OSCF scholarship program has provided over $640,000 in scholarship funds to students studying agriculture or related fields at Ohio colleges or universities.
This year, undergraduate scholarships of $3,000 each were awarded to outstanding students including Chloe Anderson, Dylan Bambauer, Jacob Lansing, Nicholas Mazurowski, Adam Meyer, Bryce Schott, and Ashley Tate. Clint Johnson received the prestigious $5,000 Bhima Vijayendran Scholarship, while Sarah Hoak was honored with the Robinson W. Joslin Scholarship.
In the graduate category, scholarships of $2,500 were awarded to Scott Brooks, Taylor Dill, Richard Gonzalez Aquino, Angel Haller, David Merckle, Prabath Sananayaka Mudiyanselage, and Maria Sholola. These graduate students are conducting research in various fields, ranging from mechanical engineering to food science, with the aim of advancing innovation and sustainability in the soybean industry.
According to Cindy Layman, a soybean farmer and member of the scholarship selection committee, this year's recipients represent one of the most impressive classes of winners. Their dedication and contributions are expected to have a significant positive impact on the industry.
From agriscience education to translational biomedical science, the scholarship recipients are pursuing diverse academic paths, all with the shared goal of advancing the soybean industry and promoting sustainability in agriculture.
Through its scholarship program, the Ohio Soybean Council Foundation continues to invest in the next generation of leaders, ensuring a bright future for the soybean industry in Ohio and beyond.
